A szövetségesek bombázásai miatt elrendelt riadók négyszög alakú földrajzi területekre vonatkoztak -amit egy betű-szám kombinációval jelöltek meg.<br /> <br /> Ennek alapján kezdték el használni a QRA lokátort, ill. az ehhez készített térképeket. Egy QRA lokátor példa: JI69c Ez a Karancs hegy QRA lokátora volt.<br /> <br /> Az IARU egy új rendszert fogadott el, ami az egész Földre érvényes. Az elnevezése World Wide Locator System, röviden WW-LOC. A gyakorlatban ma már a LOC rövidítést használjuk. A földrajzi koordináták átkonvertálhatók LOC jelölésre.
