A bitsebesség manapság egyre ritkábban egyezik meg a szimbólumsebességgel. Ez annak köszönhető, hogy egy-egy szimbólum nem egyetlen bit információt szállít, hanem akár 10 bit információt is (lásd például: [[QAM|1024QAM]]).<br />
<br />
Az [[OFDM]] moduláció esetén a szimbólumsebesség megegyezik egyetlen vivő szimbólumsebességével. A teljes hibajavítás előtti bitsebesség pedig az OFDM-et alkotó vivők bitsebességeinek összege.<br />
